Good-bye Summer
Good-bye Summer
Good-bye to those long, lazy, hot days. Good-bye to days with less structure and more flexibility. And good-bye (thank goodness) temperatures so hot that you need an oven mitt to open the car door. Our youngest three children are homeschooled, which makes it much easier to transition from summer to the school year. But we still will miss those summer days and can’t let summer go without one last celebration.
To celebrate the end of summer, we will be hosting an End-of-Summer game night. Gather your friends and family and join us in this new tradition! String up some party lights and have it outdoors after sunset or give that A/C a last final push and play games indoors at high noon. Here are some snack ideas and a new End-of-Summer game rule (to be used only during your End-of-Summer party). We’d love for you to share your ideas for an End-of-Summer game night in the Comments section below!
Snacks:
S'mores Popcorn
Add the following to your popcorn: bite-size graham cookies (such as Teddy Grahams), mini marshmallows, and chocolate candies (such as M&Ms or chocolate chips). Mix and enjoy!
We like drinking iced milk with this treat.
OR
Easy Summer Charcuterie Board
Assemble the following on a large platter for a healthier snacking adventure:
Cherry tomatoes, turkey jerky or summer sausage cut into bite-size pieces, cubed cheese, sliced bell peppers, grapes, mixed nuts
We like drinking iced tea with these snacks and ending the celebration with homemade Italian cream sodas.
End-of-Summer Wahoo rule:
Any time a player rolls a three (3), the player’s turn immediately ends (the player does not move any marbles on this turn). Need to move exactly three spaces? You will need to roll a two (2) and a one (1) on different turns.
