Caribbean Seashell Dominoes

Caribbean Seashell dominoes

We live in Amarillo, Texas. We are pretty darn close to being smack dab in the middle of the country. If we want to visit the ocean beach, the closest is about a 10-hour drive (never leaving Texas in that 10 hours!), to Galveston, Texas.

I have always loved the ocean. My mom grew up in Southern California and they were always at the beach. We went to the California beach quite a few times when I was growing up. Chris and I have been to the rocky, cold beaches of Oregon and Washington state. We’ve been to the gulf coasts in Texas and I have had the opportunity to travel up the East coast from Boston, through Maine, and up to Prince Edward Island.

There is just something so relaxing and regenerating sitting and watching the waves. From the white sands in California to the rocky black beaches in Washington and the red sand dunes in Prince Edward Island, there is magic to be found.

The only other place I find this type of tranquility is among trees. Maybe it is the wind in the branches that sound like the waves of the ocean, that brings me such peace.

But, we have very few trees here in Amarillo and even less access to the ocean- so we travel when we can and make dominoes to remind us of the peaceful ocean that is out there.
