The year the world shut down

This is uncharted territory.  For all of us.

I never thought I would live through something as strange and scary as this worldwide pandemic.

   But it is amazing

If you look for the scary, the uncertainty, the bad, you will find it.  People are panic buying. No toilet paper anywhere. The virus is spreading and the numbers keep climbing.  The word has come to a complete standstill.

But if you look for the beautiful, you will realize that it surrounds us.

Stories of people sharing their supplies with strangers. Customers who do what they can to help the overworked store employees.  People making and donating homemade masks, or putting on free concerts from their balcony or FB live.

Why are we doing all of this?

Because all over the world, we are trying to save our parents and our grandparents.

Amazing.

If you are of the older generations and you have ever thought that maybe you weren’t worth it, or nobody cared about you anymore or the best you had to offer is long gone, look around.

We have shut down the WORLD to help save you!!!

We are social distancing, self-isolating, changing store hours, shutting down countries because we need our moms and dads.  Our grandmas and grandpas.

We realized that we still need you.  We need your wisdom, your stories, your love, and laughter.  Your advice, compassion, and understanding.

The world glimpsed the prospect of how it would be with “no parents” and we didn’t like it.

We may complain that you don’t understand the younger generations.  That your way of doing things is outdated and you are set in your ways.

But in times of trouble, we are turning to you for guidance.

    For wisdom.

       For hugs.

We cannot let that go, so we shut down the world to keep you safe.
