Enter the New Decade!

Happy New Year!

I know I might be a little late to the party- it is the middle of January after all, and I was supposed to have all my plans for the coming year done by the first, if not the first week of the new year. Especially since it’s 2020- I mean, it seems like such a big year! Almost like the year 2000- this is the start of another decade! I should be ready for it day 1, right?

I’m not.

And that’s okay.

But I still feel like I should have my year and the next 10 years all planned out already! I mean, I’ve only had all year and the last 10 years to think about what I want to do for this decade, so what’s the matter? I think I’m stuck with all the things I want to do- and I want to do it NOW! I have to give myself permission to take time to do all my dreams. Like travel and grow our business and have a fully paid for house or even just a clean house! :) I want to be a better artist, writer, mom, wife, friend, business owner, small business coach, world traveler, neat and organized, etc, etc, etc.

Somehow, I feel that since I am not all those right now, that I have to start on all of them at once then I don’t know which way to turn or what to start on first or what’s the most important thing. So I end up sitting in my chair with drool trickling down my chin as I scroll blankly through Facebook or Dear Abby letters. But you don’t ever do that, do you? :)

So this year I am giving myself permission to go slowly and enjoy the journey. That is my goal. I know where I would like to end up but I don’t want to rush through the day to day part of living to get there.

The start of January saw us with family at our house. My brother & sister in law with their seven kids ( yes, that makes 13 kids at our house!) We got to enjoy time with all of them, playing games, chatting, watching the kids run around the house. Just enjoying family. Chris and I were also finishing up some orders for our business while I was trying to convince myself that I didn’t need to have the whole year planned out before the end of the week.

I did buy a calendar though, so I could at least write down my appointments and important events. I do have goals that I have for the year. I will be writing them down in the next couple of weeks, so I know what I am working towards.

But my biggest goal this year- this decade- is to enjoy the journey! Play with my kids, marvel that I get to paint and make board games for a living( how cool is that?!?)! Spend time with Chris, with family and friends.

I hope you take time to stop and marvel at the world around you this year.

Enjoy it.

Every moment.

Happy New Decade!
